Cocoa Chocolate

Cocoa bean farming is concentrated in the following 9 nations, which generate some 91% of global production.

  1. Côte d’Ivoire … 1.3 million tonnes
  2. Indonesia … 440 thousand tonnes
  3. Cameroon … 175 thousand tonnes
  4. Nigeria … 160 thousand tonnes
  5. Brazil … 155 thousand tonnes
  6. Ecuador … 118 thousand tonnes
  7. Dominican Republic … 47 thousand tonnes
  8. Malaysia … 30 thousand tonnes
Most cocoa bean producers are rural enterprises that depend on export earnings for their livelihoods.Even though cocoa processing and finished chocolate manufacturing companies make much higher profits than cocoa bean farmers, top cocoa chocolate exporters continue to specialize in cocoa bean production.
